Admission Criteria
JRF Category : Admission based on viva-voce/interview with 100% weightage, as per UGC regulations. JRF validity as per the award letter.
NET-2024 Categories 2 & 3 : 70% weightage for test scores and 30% for interview; validity of NET scores is one year. Previous NET scores are not valid for 2024-25 admissions.
Fellowship/Special Qualifications : Candidates with fellowships from UGC-CSIR NET/GATE/CEED/ICAR are eligible.
Entrance Test : For subjects not covered by NET, Visva-Bharati will conduct an entrance test with 50% research methodology and 50% subject-specific content. A minimum of 50% marks is required to qualify for the interview, with a 5% relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/differently-abled candidates.
Weightage for Entrance Test : 70% for the entrance test and 30% for interview performance. The number of candidates called for interviews will depend on available Ph.D. seats.
